The Draft in Thai of Cherdchai’s Missing Allied Pilot

This is the draft in Thai which is translated on the previous webpage. It was written by Cherdchai Chomtawat who passed it to Jack Eisner, who in turn had Ben Barraclaugh translate it into English. It is not known if the draft was ever finalized and formally published. Handwritten notes are by Jack Eisner.

Page 2: Much of the information about the P-38 is erroneous, and is not included in the translation. See Wikipedia for details about the aircraft: Lockheed P-38 Lightning (offsite link).

Page 4: This is a photo by Cherdchai of Maytah Gietpong, the interviewee. It, as all images in the draft, suffers from the poor quality of reproduction. Jack Eisner during his interview with Maytah, also photographed him and was able to provide a much better image. Jack points out that his photo of Maytah, including the background poster, is almost identical to that of Cherdchai because both interviewed Maytah at the same location, next to a small barber shop on Suthep Road in Chiang Mai.

Page 9: This is a photo of wreckage of an Allied P-38 which was, at the time the draft was written, believed to have been from Demezas’ aircraft. This wreckage was later determined to have been that of a P-38 which crashed in Wiang Haeng (Chiang Mai) on 25 March 1944, piloted by 2Lt Anthony Greco. The material is unrelated to Demezas and has not been translated.
